Using wireless technologies in healthcare
نویسنده
چکیده
With an increasingly mobile society and the worldwide deployment of mobile and wireless networks, wireless infrastructure can support many current and emerging healthcare applications. However, before wireless infrastructure can be used in a wide scale, there are several challenges that must be overcome. These include how to best utilise the capabilities of diverse wireless technologies and how to effectively manage the complexity of wireless and mobile networks in healthcare applications. In this paper, we discuss how wireless technologies can be applied in the healthcare environment. Additionally, some open issues and challenges are also discussed.

متن کاملChallenges, Systems, and Applications of Wireless and Mobile Telemedicine
Telemedicine can be defined as the delivery of healthcare, and the sharing of medical knowledge over a distance, using information and communication technologies (Pattichis, Kyriacou, Voskarides, Pattichis, Istepanian, & Schizas, 2002). Telemedicine aims at providing expert-based medical care to any place where healthcare is needed. It was introduced about three decades ago, where the only avai...
متن کاملOn the Use of Wireless Network Technologies in Healthcare Environments
In this article, we investigate the suitability of wireless technologies in healthcare/hospital environments. We focus on Wireless Personal Area Network technologies, namely, Bluetooth and the low-rate specifications described in the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. We evaluate the relevance of each technology for supporting medical applications and examine related scalability issues. Moreover, we consi...
